Tech Tips: How to Add or Remove a User Code on a DSC Power Series Security Alarm Panel

In these regular posts, we’ll walk you through “How-To’s” for equipment that we service, and questions that we are regularly asked from you, our customers.

Today, we’ll look at how to add and remove users’ access codes on a DSC Power Series security alarm monitoring panel.  This is applicable if you use your system at home or for your business. You may need to add or remove users access codes on the keypad on your system from time-to-time as people are hired into your business, as keyholders change, due to changes to cleaning or maintenance staff or many other reasons. Here are step-by-step instructions on how add or remove users’ Access Codes using the keypad on your DSC Power Series security alarm panel:

Your keypad may look like this:

Add an Access Code:

  • Press the *button followed by 5
  • Enter your system’s master code (If you do not know your system’s master code, call Exodus Technology Inc.’s Service Department)
  • The “Armed” light will illuminate on the keypad, and the “program” or “System Indicator” light will begin to flash.
  • Select the two digit users code to program (the system has space for 32 users, so for user # 2, enter 0, 2).
  • If you have a Full Message LCD Keypad (PK5500), use the < or > keys to scroll to the user you wish to program and press *
  • Using the number keys, enter the four-digit Access Code (ie: 1, 2, 3, 4).
  • When programming is complete, you can enter another 2 digit code to program another code, or Press# to exit.

Remove an Access Code:

  • Press the *button followed by 5
  • Enter your system’s master code (If you do not know your system’s master code, call Exodus Technology Inc.’s Service Department)
  • The “Armed” light will illuminate on the keypad, and the “program” or “System Indicator” light will begin to flash.
  • Select the two digit users code to program (the system has space for 32 users, so for user # 2, enter 0, 2).
  • If you have a Full Message LCD Keypad (PK5500), use the < or > keys to scroll to the user you wish to program and press *
